7 Guts (Berserk)

Guts is the main character of Berserk. Ever since he was a kid, Guts felt the wrath of the world. He was hated by his only living relative, who eventually sold Guts to a mercenary. Somehow, Guts managed to get himself together, and began to travel on his own.

During his travels, he met the Band of Hawk and its leader, Griffith, who was extremely impressed with Guts’ qualities and wanted him to join the group. After defeating Guts in a duel, Griffith introduced him as a member. While in the Band of Hawk, Guts achieved a lot of fame, and he finally found happiness, but all of it came crashing down when Griffith betrayed him and the entire group. Guts’ friends were killed, and his love interest, Casca, was sexually abused. Guts tried to fight back against Griffith, however, he has had no success so far.

6 Jonathan Joestar (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

Jonathan Joestar was the first Joestar to be introduced in the series. Originally, Jonathan came off as a spoiled kid, who did not have any manners, but as time passed, he became a gentleman. Jonathan’s father was killed by Dio Brando, who became a vampire with the help of the Stone Mask.

Jonathan had to learn about Hamon to have a chance at getting revenge. He did manage to defeat Dio, but the latter had no intention of giving up. With the help of his underling, Dio managed to sneak onto the same ship as Jonathan and mortally wounded him, and afterward, he stole the Joestar’s body.

5 Sasuke Uchiha (Naruto)

Sasuke Uchiha is one of the most popular anime characters of all time. He was traumatized by his elder brother at a very young age, and because of this, Sasuke swore to kill him. Sasuke trained a lot and finally, when the time was right, he challenged Itachi to one final duel.

Sasuke successfully defeated Itachi, but his joy did not last for long as Obito told him the truth about his elder brother. Sasuke then swore vengeance against the Hidden Leaf, but he was stopped by Naruto before he could achieve it.

4 Tenya Ida (My Hero Academia)

Tenya Ida is a highly respected character. He does not have any overpowered abilities, but he is a very capable leader, and every student in Class 1A trusts him. Tenya tried to face Stain by himself, and it obviously turned out to be a bad decision as he ended up suffering numerous injuries. If Todoriki and Midoriya had not arrived in the nick of time, Tenya would have definitely died.

3 Thorfinn (Vinland Saga)

Thorfinn’s growth as a character is extremely impressive. At the beginning of the series, he was an innocent little kid, who knew nothing about death and war. All that changed when he snuck aboard his father’s ship, but neither Thorfinn nor anyone else had a clue that they were in danger. Askeladd was given the task of getting rid of Thorfinn’s father, Thors.

Askeladd and his men struggled to beat Thors, so they decided to play dirty. When they found Thorfinn, they decided to hold him hostage. This led to Thors’ death, and it left Thorfinn with a feeling of guilt. After this incident, Thorfinn completely changed, and he trained himself in order to take down Askeladd. However, he was denied this pleasure as Askeladd was killed by King Sweyn’s soldiers.

2 Trafalgar Law (One Piece)

Trafalgar Law became a fan favorite after the time-skip. He allied with the Straw Hats in order to bring down Kaido and the first step in taking down the Yonko was to take care of his underlings. During the Punk Hazard arc, Law defeated Vergo and Luffy defeated Caesar.

Unbeknownst to most of the Straw Hats, Law’s actual aim was to bring down Donquixote Doflamingo. Law wanted Doflamingo gone because the latter had killed Rosinante, who saved Law’s life at his own expense. When Law finally arrived at Dressrosa, he could not defeat Doflamingo. Doflamingo easily defeated Law and even severed his arm. It was Luffy, who beat Doflamingo and sent him to jail.

1 Obito Uchiha (Naruto)

Initially, Obito was a kind-hearted boy, who loved to help other people. His perception of the world changed when he saw Kakashi putting a Chidori through Rin’s heart, and at that very moment, Obito swore that he would change the entire world with power.

For multiple years, Obito toiled to capture all the tailed beasts and when he finally got his hands on them, he became the jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails. In an attempt to stop Obito, Naruto tried talking to him, and unsurprisingly it worked, and thus, Obito was unable to complete his quest for vengeance.
