Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser recently revealed that the company is planning major content updates for Animal Crossing: New Horizons in 2021. While the 400 characters that are already in the game will surely keep players busy for a long time. Now, here are some of the NPCs featured in previous Animal Crossing games that should make an appearance in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Blanca

Headlining this list is the adorable but sometimes creepy cat villager called Blanca. Her name likely comes from the word “blank,” which references her blank face. It is also possible that her name comes from the feminine equivalent of the Spanish word Blanco, which means white, referring to her white skin. In previous Animal Crossing games, players will meet Blanca without a face, and she will ask them to draw her a new one. However, in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Blanca served as the host of the April Fool’s festivities, which is a role that she should reprise in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Although her absence in the latest game is still a mystery, some speculate that the mechanic where players draw Blanca a face may lead to some players drawing all sorts of inappropriate things.

Brewster

Ever since the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons early this year, players have been requesting Brewster’s return. In previous Animal Crossing games, Brewster owns and works in his cafe called The Roost. Of course, with all the customization options currently available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it would be a great addition to task players with building Brewster’s cafe and building all sorts of furniture and items depending on the player’s style.

Porter

From the very first Animal Crossing game, up until New Leaf, players were first greeted by Porter, who is a monkey running the Train Station in the village. Given that New Horizons is set on a deserted island, it is understandable why Porter has been removed in the game’s roster of NPC’s. Still, it would be nice to see him visit the island, and maybe Nintendo could make Porter work in the island’s airport, alongside the staff of Dodo Airines.

Serena

Serena is a dog villager, who only appeared in Animal Crossing: City Folk as the fountain goddess. Given that she only appeared in one game, Serena is not that popular compared to the other characters on this list. Still, it would be interesting to see her return, and maybe Nintendo could add a new feature where Serena would transport players to a special location where they could mine for rare materials. Additionally, Nintendo could also bring back the fountain from City Folk, where players could summon Serena for special tasks and quests.

Tortimer

Last on this list is Tortimer, who has appeared in every single Animal Crossing game apart from Animal Forest and New Horizons. In all his appearances Tortimer played as the village’s mayor, apart from New Leaf where it was revealed that he has retired to his own island. Given his popularity, it would be nice to see Tortimer visit the island of players in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, where he could give players some tips and secrets on how to run a village and ensure that every resident is happy and looked after.
