Last month, Nintendo announced a new massive summer update to Animal Crossing: New Horizons called “Wave 1” would be coming with the month of July. The most anticipated feature of this update is the ability to swim and dive in the ocean, but to do that, players will need to purchase a wet suit.

Releasing alongside this huge summer update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, a Nook Inc. themed Wet Suit will be available for purchase via the Nook Stop inside Resident Services. This fashionable look costs 800 Nook Miles and will allow players to swim in the ocean.
The Nook-themed Wet Suit is full-length, colored turquoise and black, with the classic Nook logo on the front. It was also previously reported that the Wet Suit item will be added to Nook’s Cranny upon downloading the July 3rd update, but unfortunately, these ones won’t be Nook Inc. branded. For players who would rather spend bells over Nook Miles on the clothing item, that one will cost 3,000 bells.
After purchasing the Wet Suit, players will get to enjoy lots of ocean activities aside from swimming and diving. Lots of new sea creatures can be discovered and donated to Blathers’s museum, like sea stars, scallops, and spotted garden eels. Swimmers might also encounter brand new cast member Pascal the sea otter out in the ocean hunting for fishy friends. After downloading the Wave 1 update, players will also receive a free snorkel in the mail, but it doesn’t appear to be necessary for swimming.
A plethora of other activities and items will come along with the update as well, including glamourous mermaid-themed furniture to be crafted. And it looks like Animal Crossing will be celebrating the Tanabata Festival alongside Japan. In Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, a new wish tree item will be available as a seasonal purchase, and players will be able to make wishes on their own trees.
The Version 1.3.0 update containing all these exciting features will be available starting 10 am Japan Standard Time on Friday, July 3rd. For fans living in other time zones, that release time converts to 6 pm PDT or 9 pm EST on Thursday, July 2. So folks will only have to wait just a little bit longer for some summer fun.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
