Every time a new Animal Crossing game is launched, long-time fans and players of the series are always wondering if new Animal Crossing special villagers will be introduced or if specific crowd-favorites will make a comeback in the Switch title. Fortunately, it seems the development team did not disappoint the community as they brought in a roster of both new and returning NPCs that regularly populate the game’s calendar of events. Flick and C.J. are two of the new special villagers introduced in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and both have in-game dialogue that allude to their relationship as partners.

On Twitter, user Jackdaw posted several screenshots that finally confirmed that C.J. and Flick are roommates in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While playing through the ACNH Happy Home Paradise DLC, Jackdaw seems to be looking to build a vacation home for Flick. However, the character initially refused the offer, stating that they were already living with someone. When explained that he could bring his roommate along, Flick agrees to have the vacation home built. It is then confirmed that C.J. is Flick’s roommate in Jackdaw’s other screenshots, where Flick is shown saying that C.J. will love the vacation home, and later on spending time with the beaver himself inside the structure the player built for them.

With Jackdaw’s screenshots, it can be confirmed that Flick and C.J. are not only business partners, but roommates as well. However, this has already been confirmed by the official Animal Crossing: New Horizons guide that was published after the game was launched in 2020. This may disappoint many fans of the life simulation title that had found the connection between Flick and C.J. endearing, and seem to have hoped that they shared more than just a platonic relationship.

As Animal Crossing: New Horizons players go through the content in free 2.0 update and paid DLC, hopefully more discoveries will be shared by the fans online. This goes to show that ACNH still has an active community, even though the game will already be two years old in 2022.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available for Nintendo Switch.
