In this DLC, it’s the player’s responsibility to find clients and design their dream vacation home. The clients are villagers - the very same who can move to players’ islands or appear on Nook Miles islands. Each client has a unique request that they want their home themed around, complete with a title and three required furniture pieces. Some requests are pretty run-of-the-mill, such as “My Crafty Cabin” or “A Place to Work Out.” However, some themes are much more bizarre and unexpected.

A Half-Built House

For players who take on the task of gorilla villager Cesar’s house, they’ll be happy to hear they only have to do half the work. Cesar’s request is, “I want a place that’s not quite finished yet…” With requirements of a cone, safety barrier, and cement mixer, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons gorilla isn’t kidding - apparently, his dream home is one perpetually under construction.

Restroom Refuge

Lion village Lionel requests a bathroom-themed home, explaining, “You can never have too many toilets when company’s over.” His requirement is not one, but two different toilets and a plain sink. Lionel clearly knows his friends (and their restroom needs) well.

A Place to Fan the Flames

Phoebe isn’t afraid of fire. In fact, this ostrich villager desperately wants to be surrounded by it. She says, “My home should match my burning drive! I’m heating up!” This isn’t metaphorical, as her home requires a stage flame machine, bonfire, and a campfire, so designers may be wise to include a fire extinguisher in their plans.

Come-and-Go Calorie Castle

Lots of villagers request food- or gym-themed homes, but Sanrio amiibo card-exclusive villager Marty wants both. “I want a place to eat and then immediately start sweating,” he says, requiring Pompompurin pudding, a yoga mat, and a can of milk. Apparently, this bear does count calories - he counts calorie gain, then switches to counting calorie burn right away.

My Messy Manor

Players can polish furniture in Happy Home Paradise until it shines, but hippo Harry is not interested in that service. He wants all things messy, requesting a sloppy sink and a sloppy sofa. Harry really wants to be comfortable in his own home, according to his explanation: “Gimme a place where I can be as messy as I wanna be!”

A Smoky Room

Smoke inhalation is incredibly dangerous and can be lethal, but apparently not for hamsters. Villager Hamphrey can’t get enough, saying, “I’d like to relax in a place with a rich, smoky aroma. Mmm!” Keeping a smoker and a fire pit indoors probably isn’t recommended by fire safety professionals, buut Phoebe and Hamphrey should visit each other; it sounds like they might get along.

These villagers know what they want, and they are not afraid to ask for it. The best designers in Happy Home Paradise don’t judge and always deliver, rising up the ranks to Famous Designer status. Whether a villager needs a simple reading nook or a fully involved excavation site, they can count on Paradise Planning.
