The most recent Animal Crossing: New Horizons project to make the rounds is Reddit user Work_In_Progress095’s faithful recreation of the Pokemon Emerald Battle Frontier. The Redditor turned their entire island into the post-game location from the third generation Pokemon game. What looks like a good job from the overview turns out to be a much more impressive feat on closer inspection.

After Work_In_Progress095’s original posting featuring a side-by-side comparisons of the maps, their response post included an Imgur gallery that shone more light on the work they did. Exploring the images turns a fun reference point into a deeply obvious labor of love. The Redditor was able to utilize the current shops and houses in-game to work as substitutes. The Able Sisters shop serves as the surrogate for the Battle Factory. For the Battle Pike, which is a building shaped like the snake Pokemon Seviper, is now a complete T-Rex statue. The museum serves as the Battle Arena while the Battle Palace is Nook’s Cranny.

The list goes on but it shows how one player is able to do wonderful things with the terraforming in Animal Crossing: New Horizons matched with a dedication. New Horizons may not have the same creative freedom as Minecraft does, but players will utilize the many tricks to make their islands shine. This is definitely not the first recreation to get attention in New Horizons and it won’t be the last. One of the more prominent creations was a player-made Zelda Dungeon and before that, a video showing a recreated scene from the film 1917.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to be one of the most popular releases of the year. Beyond fans getting the most out of recent entry of the Nintendo franchise, the game has taken on a life of its own that is fascinating to witness. Within the last week, a black market has arisen for villagers where large amounts of bells are being spent. It speaks to the love of the Nintendo Switch exclusive and just how wild the next months will be from the playerbase.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
