Turning Red stars a young girl named Meilin “Mei” Lee, a 13-year-old Chinese student who is torn between being her mother’s dutiful daughter and the wildness of adolescence. As Mei deals with changes to her interests, relationships, and body, she must also deal with a condition that causes her to turn into a giant red panda whenever she gets too excited. One gamer has taken Mei’s room from the film and recreated it in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

A Redditor going by the handle hk9yearolds shared their take on Mei’s room in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Their creation is a faithful adaption of what we see in Turning Red, down to hk9yearolds’ Villager wearing a white shirt similar to Mei’s.

The room that hk9yearolds created is spot on, including the flower-patterned wallpaper. Other accents, such as the dresser next to the bed and the green mirror were included as well. The gamer also put the window and desk in the right spots and included the pictures and shelves that we see in the movie. While the room is not a 100% recreation of what’s shown in Turning Red, hk9yearolds captured what is seen in the film quite well, creating a great nod to Pixar’s movie.

The room based onTurning Red has garnered a lot of fans. Many of them find it to be cute and love some of the small touches that hk9yearolds added, such as the KK poster. The room has caused many to ask why there is no red panda character in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Regardless, many are applauding hk9yearolds’ work, finding it to be a nice recreation.

Hk9Yearolds is not the only one mixing Animal Crossing: New Horizons with Turning Red. An artist by the name of washue drew Mei in her red panda form as a Villager. The piece captures Mei’s personality well, though she was shrunk down a bit as a Villager. The picture is adorable and is a good mix of the two properties. Both hk9yearolds and washue are helping show Turning Red some love in the cute Animal Crossing: New Horizons style.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
