Upon downloading the July 3 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players will discover that the Wet Suit clothing item has been added to Nook’s Cranny. The wet suit will cost New Horizons players 3,000 bells, so players do have to make a small purchase before they can partake in the game’s new swimming and diving activities.

The image released by Nintendo of wet suits in Nook’s Cranny shows a horizontal striped design, but there will be other designs available as well. It’s been confirmed that Nook’s Cranny will have different wet suit styles available to purchase each day, so players can keep checking back until they have the chance to purchase one that fits their taste. The Summer Update - Wave 1 trailer showed a completely different wet suit than the one pictured below, so fans should have quite a bit of variety. It’s unclear at the time of this writing if wet suits will support Animal Crossing: New Horizons custom designs or not, however.
Once players have their wet suit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, they will be able to swim and dive for special animals and items, including scallops. Players can give scallops to the new NPC Pascal in exchange for mermaid-theme DIY recipes. There will likely also be some new Nook Miles challenges related to swimming and diving as well, though fans will have to wait for the July 3 update to learn more.
Meanwhile, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update - Wave 1 will also be adding a new encounter with Gulliver. How exactly this Gulliver encounter differs from the previous one remains to be seen (besides the fact that he is wearing new clothes), but again, more information should come on July 3.
In future, Animal Crossing: New Horizons fans can expect Nintendo to continue expanding the game, with future updates likely focused on holidays like Halloween and Christmas.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
